EVENT/COMPETITION: The Meridian Chamber of Commerce sponsors an annual photo contest to engage the community and looks to find new images that can be used to communicate Bosque County and Meridian’s beauty and attractiveness. The photo contest allows locals to compete for prizes using photographs taken in and around Meridian, Texas.
CONTEST: The six photo contest categories are:
- Civic & Commerce,
- People in Action, and
For each of these categories, there will be an adult class and a youth class (under 18 years of age).
Photos are submitted digitally by email before midnight September 6, 2016, to firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you do not have the ability to submit digitally, bring a printed copy of each photo you want to submit to the Chamber of Commerce office before September 1, 2016.
Photos should be common JPG file format. Also, it is important to provide higher resolution images when possible. Photos taken with most digital cameras and smart phones should provide the format and quality appropriate for this contest.
Images that are significantly enhanced or “photoshopped” beyond basic color correction and basic cropping will be disqualified.
Chamber members & general public are encouraged to participate. Chamber of Commerce Board of Director members and their immediate families ARE allowed to participate, but will not be eligible to win prizes. Immediate family members are those living in the same household.
Contestants are limited to submitting no more than three pictures per category.
With each submission, the photo should be accompanied with:
- the name of the photographer,
- age category (adult or youth),
- the category of the photo, and
- a short description of what and where the photo is taken.
All photos are to be taken in Bosque County.
AWARDS & VOTING: An anonymous panel of qualified judges will pick the top three entries per category and those finalists will receive a high-quality print of their submission if they attend the September dinner event. The dinner is scheduled to be held on September 15, 2016, at “the old library” (Senior Citizen Building) at 5:30 with dinner starting at 6:00pm. It is important to RSVP with the chamber office so that we can ensure that enough food is prepared for all attendees.
The top three picture prints from each category and each age division will be displayed at the dinner so that those attending will be able to influence who wins each category with a PEOPLE’S CHOICE AWARD.
Those attending the dinner will receive 10 tickets. Attendees will be able to purchase additional tickets at the event. Tickets will be used to vote for favorite photographs.
The Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors will also help pick the “2016 Best of Show” that best represents commerce and the city of Meridian. Bosque Living Magazine will be providing the $75 cash prize for the Best of Show entry. Finally, attendees will vote via tickets on all photos to determine People’s Choice Award.
Prizes will be bestowed at the event as winners are determined.
