About Meridian

Meridian is governed by a City Council with a Mayor and five Council members. These representatives of the citizens are elected to terms that are staggered to allow for new elections every year. The citizens are served by a two person police force comprised of a Police Chief and one Officer. Fire protection is provided by the Meridian Volunteer Fire Department. This department is well staffed, trained and equipped. City Hall is located at 111 North Main Street.
The community of Meridian and the surrounding area offers a clean, quiet and safe environment for families. North Bosque EMS, based in Meridian, responds to medical emergencies. Basic medical care is available through a Goodall Witcher affiliated clinic in Meridian. Hospital care is available only 12 miles away in Clifton and major medical facilities are less than 50 miles away in Waco.

Employment opportunities are available in a variety of areas including healthcare, elementary and high school education, maintenance, production and retail.

As the I-35 commercial corridor widens and the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex continues its move Southward, Meridian offers opportunities for ground floor commercial and industrial re-location, new business start ups (both commercial and retail) and opportunities to purchase existing businesses.
